The Band

Our group’s name comes from the Arabic word “hafla”, which translates to “party” in English. Combined with the suffix “copter,” our name indicates our nomadic nature - we bring the hafla everywhere we go!
Group members hail from the northeast coast of the United States. All of us have a deep passion for the Mediterranean and the Middle East and their rich musical traditions. Some of us came to this music in our adult lives, having heard it played on our travels, while others grew up around it. Nevertheless, all of us love the music we play together.
